I'm sitting here in my bed, just thinking. it's one o'clock in the morning and I should really be studying for my last book's test. My study notes are sprawled out all over my bed and the rain in tapping on my window. this is my last book before I graduate. forever. it feels strange, and it will feel even stranger when I get back from new zealand. waking up to no schoolwork.
I've been thinking a lot lately about 'what next', as you do when you're about to finish something. the truth of the matter is, is that I love planning. boy, I can sit there and plan a hundred and one things in my head in twenty seconds and still have room for another two.
I love thinking up ideas for this and that and where I want to go and who I want to drag into it. I plan (dream? plan, I like plan better) roadtrips and travelling and businesses and jobs and courses and well, plans. I plan to get an iPhone. I plan to get a photography business going. I plan to do a roadtrip around america. I plan to go to france. I plan to live in london. I plan to have a lovely apartment. I plan to work as a unit stills photographer. I plan. I love it and it's fun. but, all of these plans.
in a sense, my life is none of my business. I can plan and scheme (ah, that's a much better word! more...me.) all I want, but only God can make all or none or any of these plans come true. what exactly am I saying then? I'm not entirely sure, you tell me, coz it's 1:20 in the morning, my studying hasn't gone any further and I've suddenly discovered that I'm very sleepy.
so, be good kids and leave the planning up to Him.
'night! um. 'morning. whatever.
love you all.

ReplyDeleteI am a planner too. I get so ahead of myself sometimes, planning (or scheming, I suppose!) what I'm going to next before I've finished the first step. ;P But you're right: we need to leave the planning up to God. He's the only one who can see our path clearly, so I think I want Him planning anyway. :)

YOU LUCKY DUCK GRAD.
ReplyDeleteI plan to come live with you in glorious London, and we'll be photographers together! (: xoxo
AND YEAAH BUDDY FOR US BOTH HAVING iPHONES!!
DeleteThis post really hit home with me. I'm a rabid planner as well. When I get up in the mornings, one of the first things I do is write out a list of everything I HAVE to get done that day. But sometimes (er, most of the time) my plans get messed up and I end up having to adjust. But that just proves that my life is not my own (in a good sort of way!), and I need to be willing to go and do whatever the Lord is calling me to do.
ReplyDeletewow! graduating i'm sure feels exciting/scary/awesome all at the same time!! congrats!
ReplyDeleteand yes, get the iPhone, ohhh!! iPhone=awesome:)
I love your writing! :)
ReplyDeleteyes, right there with you. I love planing. but more then half the time things never end up the way I figured. anyway, Gods plan is a whole lot better than mine, even if it does not always seem that way to me. thanks for sharing this:)

DeleteOkay, we should do a flatshare in London, k? You can be the unit stills photog for all the films I direct :)
ReplyDeleteI must admit, that is one plan that reeeeeeaaaalllly should come true. yes and amen.
DeleteAnd I will share your flat and be the leading actress in your films. ;)
DeleteIsn't it truly amazing how God's plans are always far better than our own? I'm a planner at heart, as well, but I'm slowly learning to let my plans go and instead, follow after His :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I'm always planning, too! erm...scheming and dreaming and making decisions. yes, that's it. I do most of this during the hours I'm supposed to be studying, in bed at night for hours, and in the shower. :D heheh. And in the end, like you said, I realize I just need to leave the planning up to God. ♥ During the skype session we need to have, we will plan out our lives together. ;) and you can come stay with me as you roadtrip through NC, and I'll stay with you when I come to england, okay? okay.
ReplyDeletemuch love! ♥
