GO BIG OR GO HOME (ALSO, HELP ME OUT?)

am I off the "most terrible blogger of the year" list yet? lately life has been very full + busy + wonderful + tiring. let me bring you up to speed with everything that's going on in my life at the moment! I shot my first official wedding in june, my sister had her baby boy (see above. isn't he the squishiest?) early july, my brother got a new job (which means I don't see much of him during the week. SO weird.), me + petie started a video series, I posted a lot on instagram (kinda obsessed, guys), we had people over to stay, I started making some travel plans, I went to the lake district for a week, friends got boyfriends/got engaged (people are growing up! things are changing! ahhhhh!), did some creative shoots, booked some family shoots, and theeen I got really behind on blogging.

I guess I've realised that with blogging, I'm either all in or I'm not (go big or go home, ya know?), and I love love love this little space we have here, where we can chat + be a little bit odd (ha, ok, so I'm a little bit a lot odd) + be a wee community even though we might be across the other side of the world from each other. so, guys? I'm all in. I've decided to really invest in this blog and the content I put on here and that makes me super excited (and also slightly terrified)! sure, I want to share my stories, experiences and my photography work but I also want to make content that is of value to you all! so, I guess what I'm saying is, that I would love to hear from you. tell me what you love to learn about, read about, see or hear! so, I challenge you all to put three things in the comments below that you would like to see on this blog, whether it's more photography, personal posts, more vlogs, how-to posts, or more travel posts! I would love to know what you guys think.

I'm also investing more time into all of my social media, because communicating with people + seeing their extraordinary lives all over the world is an incredible thing and I love it. so, you can catch up with my everyday life on instagram + my twitter account, which is basically where I tweet the more weird thoughts that pop into my head (and also a great place to ask me questions/have a chat!) and also, if you want to see everything creative that I love and adore, you can find all that on my pinterest

love you all!

  1. Beautiful pictures, Jess. ♥Your new nephew is adorable and your niece is getting so big. Crazy. I know how you feel about blogging. I'm the exact opposite. I can go without posting for a long time, and then feel like posting again. :) It's one of those things I guess you really have to be dedicated in order to do.

I personally love your photography posts, your vlogs, and some how-to posts (I assume about photography..? Or perhaps blog design?) would be fun, because I'm hoping to start a photography business some day soon-ish.

    1. thanks so much for your feedback, love! well, I'm open to doing any kind of how-to (provided that I actually know "how to" to it in the first place hahaha) post, but photography would definitely be my starting place. I love love love marketing + business as well, so if those would be helpful to you (with your photography business in mind), let me know!

    2. Jess,
Those ideas sound perfect!! I can't wait for your "how to" posts now! :)
Also, I agree with Megan's comment below that funny stories from photo shoots would be so entertaining! Perhaps you could even do "behind the scenes" of how you shoot and edit and such?

  10. Jess! Congrats on your first wedding...any chance of seeing more of those photos (plus your hilarious commentary, of course)? In the vein of 'why so serious', I'd be interested to hear about funny mishaps during photo/video shoots. More often than not, the small things that go wrong shape the photo shoot into something even better than you initially thought.

I've had some really interesting moments in shoots before. maybe I should do a general "embarrassing moments" video, coz I've got lots of those stories haha!

  11. Hi Jess... what three things would be awesome to see on your blog? Firstly, MORE OF JESS. Mmmhmm. Yes. I think that will do nicely. ;) Your vlogs are awesome, and I miss them... Just MORE, my dear... MORE OF EVERYTHING. XD

    1. yay, thanks so much for your feedback! look for more of those posts in the future! haha, yes I have had photos taken of me before, and I've taken self portraits, but I've never really had a dedicated photo shoot of myself! I should get round to that sometime ;)

  13. Hello, Jess! Firstly, just wanna say how encouraging it is to see people who are both passionate and talented in what they do while doing it for the glory of God. Sometimes artists are tempted to glorify themselves or their own originality. Or sometimes people who have God-honoring intentions are afraid to leave the mold. So, I guess I’d just love to see continued craziness?

  14. Your energy is just fabulous. As for your blog, the photos are gorgeous, so I can never get enough of those. I feel I'd just be echoing what has already been said above, so let me just say I'm excited for your future posts! :D
